Ribbon Cutting for the Library Exhibit
“Front Row Seat to Presidential History” exhibit officially opened on Sept. 27 at the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Library, 1st and 2nd floors. The idea of the exhibit was born last April, when Sun Sentinel cartoonist, Chan Lowe lectured at Lynn and offered to loan of some of his cartoon sketches, 28 of which are on display in the library second floor lobby. Susan Gillis, curator with the Boca Raton Historical Society, donated the voting machine from the 2000 election in Palm Beach County (one of the famous “hanging chad machines”) and Kathleen Clunan, Lynn archivist, found pictures from each of the debates which flank the first floor entrance. John Owen Clark lent Lynn his Political Memorabilia Collection which spans the mid 1850’s through the election of 2008, and includes buttons, badges, banners, posters, bumper strips, brochures, political torches and assorted 3-D items and ephemera. Barbara Lucey, a friend of Lynn University and Professor Watson also donated several items each from their personal political memorabilia collections. Special thanks go out to NCCI for sponsoring the exhibit and Gallery Framers for donating the custom framing for the Lowe cartoons. See our photos from the events.
